TRANSFER OF VEHICLE TITLE
Please DO NOT complete the title or sign it until you are in front of the notary!
You will need to have valid photo identification You will need to bring a Driver’s License, State Identification Card or Government ID PENNDOT DOES NOT ACCEPT A PASSPORT.
This must be the actual card, copies will not be accepted.
While you will not complete this until you are in front of the notary, this is the process:
- You will need to complete the Odometer (mileage) in the upper left-hand corner of the title. If you do not know the exact number, you will need to check the box that says “this is not the exact mileage.”
- If you are the Seller and the Purchaser cannot be with you, you must fill out the name and address of the Purchaser and the amount of the sale. The reason for this is if the title gets lost or stolen after it is notarized, if the Purchaser information is not on the Title, someone can insert their own information and they will own the vehicle.
- The Notary will then ask you to sign and print your name and will notarized the title.
You should also note that nothing can be crossed out or whited out on the title.
This would make the Title tone a defaced title and a duplicate will need to be requested and completed with the correct information.
